After exploring all aspects of changing our school start times for school year 2019 - 2020 and beyond, a 10-minute adjustment was made to the planned Mashpee Middle-High School student day to allow buses 10 extra minutes between tiers.  

Mashpee Middle-High School students will attend school from 8:20 AM - 2:50 PM.

On May 9, 2018, the School Committee voted 4-1 to change school start times for students in Mashpee--beginning in September 2019.  

Mashpee Middle-High School Student School Day:  8:30 AM - 3:00 PM
Quashnet School Student School Day:  9:05 AM - 3:35 PM
Coombs School Student School Day:  9:05 AM - 3:35 PM

The School Committee discussed school start time options at its meeting on Wednesday, April 25, 2018.  They anticipate taking a vote at the May 9, 2018 meeting.  (NOTE:  If student school day times change, implementation will begin in September 2019.)  Options being considered are as follows:

A.  No Change:  MMHS student school day:  7:30 AM - 2:00 PM
                           Quashnet School student school day:  8:15 AM - 2:45 PM
                           Coombs School student school day:  8:20 AM - 2:50 PM

B.  MMHS student school day:  8:30 AM - 3:00 PM
     Coombs and Quashnet student school day:  7:30 AM - 2:00 PM

C.  MMHS student school day:  8:30 AM - 3:00 PM
     Coombs and Quashnet student school day:  9:05 AM - 3:35 PM

D.  Slight alterations to the times shown in Option B or Option C.

The School Committee's 2018 Family Opinion Survey contained several questions related to School Start Times in Mashpee.  The School Committee held a public hearing on School Start Times on Wednesday, April 4, 2018.  Preliminary survey data was shared at that meeting by School Committee member Nicole Bartlett.  Once the data analysis is finalized it will be shared with all district households.

School Start Time Recommendation--January 17, 2018

The Mashpee School Committee has postponed taking a vote to change school start times.  The School Start Time Committee will continue its planning work and will gather additional information from our community as we move towards our new proposal with a target start date of school year 2018-2019.

We are proposing the following Mashpee school days (SY18-19):

Mashpee Middle-High School:             8:30 AM - 3:00 PM
Quashnet School:                                7:30 AM - 2:00 PM
Coombs School:                                  7:35 AM - 2:05 PM
