The Mashpee Public School District is exploring the possibility of adjusting the daily start/end times for the school day.  We are in the early stages of this process.  So far we have collected and reviewed research on the impact of start time on student well-being and learning.  We are nowhere near the point of making any recommendations regarding changes to the current daily start times for our K-12 students.

The Mashpee School Start Time Committee (SSTC) is an advisory committee only.  Members include:  School Committee Member Don Myers, School Committee Member Christopher Santos, Acting Superintendent Patty DeBoer, Mashpee Middle-High School Principal Mark Balestracci, Quashnet School Principal MaryKate O'Brien, Coombs School Principal Wendy Lithwin, Coombs School Assistant Principal Marcy Dugas, Athletic Director Matt Triveri, Teachers--Robin Geggatt, Brian Brodie, and Kristine Jones; Parents--Kristen Boyd, Sarah Provencher, and Matt Auger; MMHS Student--Tannah O'Brien; Mashpee Recreation Department Director Mary Bradbury.

We welcome ALL feedback from our school community.  Once all research has been reviewed and input has been collected from our students, our staff, our families, and our community partners, a recommendation will be made to the Mashpee School Committee. Any vote by the Mashpee School Committee to change school start times would not take effect until school year 2017-2018.

We remain focused on the success and well-being of all students in the Mashpee Public Schools.

If you have any questions, suggestions, or concerns at any point throughout this process, please email Patty DeBoer at pdeboer@mashpee.k12.ma.us.
